July 30, 2008 | DUBOIS, IL A standout performance by Shawn Marquardt and some early scoring propelled the Bombers to a 6-1 win on Wednesday night over DuPage County. Marquardt scattered four hits and four walks over a complete nine innings to pick up the victory.
The Bombers’ offense struck early with three runs and three hits in the first inning. Sam Konnoff led off the inning with a walk and moved to second on a single by Zach Rowles. Both would come around to score on a two RBI double by Wes Fink. Fink would later score on an RBI single by Daniel Nichols.
Two more Bomber runs were tacked on in the bottom of the fourth, as Ronnie Calvird and Jared Baehl would come around to score.
The Bombers scored their sixth and final run in the sixth on a sac fly RBI by Rowles, scoring Baehl.
DuPage’s only run came courtesy of a fielder’s choice RBI in the fourth by Pete Capetta, which scored Mark Noth.
Starter Eric Wyman took the loss for the Dragons after allowing four hits, three walks, and four runs (three earned) over 3 1/3 innings of work.
Rowles led the Bombers with a hit, a run scored, and an RBI. Jared Baehl added two runs scored in the winning cause.
